Sales volume of passenger car market increased by 1.8% year-on-year in May, ushering in the first positive growth in 2020, among which luxury car market performed brilliantly. In May, the retail sales of luxury cars increased by 28% year-on-year, far exceeding the market growth rate. In the luxury sedan sector, Audi A6L sales reached 16301 units in May, up 192.4% year-on-year, ranking first in luxury sedan sales. Mercedes-Benz C-class can enter the list, because the association statistics luxury car field selects the starting market guidance price of more than 300,000 yuan models, while BMW 3 series, Audi A4L starting price is less than 300,000 yuan. However, the latest mid-term Audi A4L has raised its guidance price to 30.58- 396,800 yuan, so Audi A4L sales statistics are expected to enter the luxury car list in the future.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class ranked third with sales of 14636 vehicles in May, up 33.2% year-on-year. As one of the representative models of executive luxury cars, Mercedes-Benz E-Class market sales have remained stable. BMW 5 Series ranked fourth, with sales of 13074 vehicles in May, down 4.4% year-on-year.
Volvo S90, a second-tier luxury brand, ranked fifth, with sales of 3630 vehicles in the month; while Cadillac CT6 sales volume was 2114 vehicles, up 49.3% year-on-year. Through positioning and price decline, CT6 sales increased significantly, with cumulative sales volume of 7883 vehicles from January to May, up 58.5% year-on-year.
Volkswagen Huiang assumes SAIC Volkswagen's image in the high-end sedan market, but its depressed sales volume is difficult to hide its embarrassing market positioning. Both Fai Ang and Jaguar XFL have less than 1,000 vehicles, with sales of 710 and 508 vehicles respectively in May.
There are 10 domestic models on the list in the luxury SUV field, among which Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5L and BMW X3 have sold more than ten thousand vehicles. Among them, Mercedes-Benz GLC sold 16067 vehicles in May, up 45.3% year-on-year, ranking first in this segment; in the first five months, Mercedes-Benz GLC also continued to lead with 60284 vehicles.
Audi Q5L also ushered in a period of downturn after the replacement, with the increase of terminal concessions, its sales recovery is obvious. Audi Q5L sold 14053 units in May, compared with 8613 units in the same period last year, resulting in a year-on-year increase of 63.2%. In the first five months, Audi Q5L accumulated sales of 46720 vehicles and continued to rank second.
Since the launch of Brilliance BMW X3, sales volume has also maintained a relatively stable state. Its sales volume in May was 11671 vehicles, up 8% year-on-year, and the cumulative sales volume from January to May was 43292 vehicles, down 7.2% year-on-year.
Touang still maintains its advantage as a non-luxury brand high-end model and becomes the sales pillar of Volkswagen's high-end models in China. The sales volume of Touang in May was 7406 vehicles, up 41.7% year-on-year; the cumulative sales volume in the first five months was 24735 vehicles, down 14.5% year-on-year.
For the rest of the models, Cadillac XT5, Mercedes-Benz GLB and Volvo XC60 are also selling at 5,000 units. Among them, Mercedes-Benz GLB has been on the market for less than half a year and is also the only compact luxury SUV priced at 300,000 yuan.
The sales volume of the new power brand NIO ES6 and Ideal ONE in May was 2685 and 2148 respectively. It is worth noting that FAW Toyota Prado monthly sales in more than 2000 units, according to the manufacturer's plan, the car will be officially discontinued in June this year, soon will also completely withdraw from the list.
From the overall luxury car market performance, May growth is very obvious, continued the luxury car market boom scene.
