On the same day, BYD also released a half-year performance forecast for 2023. According to the financial report, BYD expects the net profit attributed to shareholders of listed companies in the first half of the year to be 10.5 billion to 11.7 billion yuan, up 192.05% to 225.43% over the same period last year, and non-net profit to 9.3 billion to 10.3 billion yuan, an increase of 206.99% to 240% over the same period last year. In other words, BYD's net profit and deducted non-net profit are expected to grow positively in the first half of 2023.


It should be noted that BYD's profit comes not only from the car business, but also from the mobile phone parts and assembly business, rechargeable batteries and photovoltaic, but the car business is the source of BYD's profit growth.

With regard to the changes in performance, BYD said in an announcement that in the first half of 2023, the new energy vehicle industry maintained rapid growth, the company's new energy vehicle sales grew strongly on a high base in the same period last year, and its market share continued to rise. continue to strengthen its leading position in the new energy vehicle industry. BYD pointed out that despite increased competition in the automotive industry in the first half of the year, the company continued to maintain a good level of profitability with its rising brand strength, expanding scale advantage and strong cost control ability of the industrial chain, as well as falling prices of upstream raw materials.

From January to June 2023, BYD remained firmly at the top of the list of automakers in the first half of the year with sales of 1.1546 million vehicles, making it the top seller of passenger cars in China, according to the latest retail data of the Federation of passengers. At the same time, BYD is the only car company on the list with sales of more than 1 million vehicles, with a market share of 12.1%.


According to BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu's previous forecast, BYD's sales target for this year will start at 3 million vehicles and strive to double to 3.6 million vehicles.
