AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)08/04 Report--

A few days ago, SAIC Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the Administration of defective Automobile products recall and the measures for the implementation of defective Automobile products recall regulations, and decided to recall the following vehicles from August 4, 2023, including some 2020-2022 Polo Plus 1.5L vehicles produced from October 12 to March 17, 2022, a total of 57659 vehicles. Part of the 1.5L 2020-2022 gauntlet produced from October 12, 2020 to March 25, 2022, totaling 25838.

It is understood that some vehicles within the scope of this recall due to deviation in the supplier's production process, the gap between the fuel pump impeller and the impeller shell is small, the impeller surface roughness is larger, and gasoline deposits are easy to accumulate between the fuel pump impeller and the impeller shell, resulting in poor rotation of the impeller and poor fuel pump operation, which in extreme cases may lead to the loss of power of the vehicle and the existence of safety risks. In view of product defects, SAIC Volkswagen will replace the improved fuel pump for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge, in order to eliminate safety risks.

The recall initiated because of fuel pump defects is nothing new in the domestic market. Earlier, large-scale recalls have broken out, including Subaru, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and other Japanese brands.

On September 23, 2019, Changan Mazda launched a recall of 77112 domestic second-generation CX-5 vehicles produced from August 8, 2017 to July 2, 2019.

On April 10, 2020, GAC-Mitsubishi launched a recall of some of the Yige, Olander and Jinxuan cars produced between November 9, 2017 and August 30, 2019, a total of 174519 vehicles.

On April 17, 2020, a number of Toyota companies jointly filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, and decided to recall some imported and domestic vehicles, including Toyota Hanlanda, Camry, Prado, Crown, Lexus IS, NX, RX, etc., totaling 256644 vehicles.

On May 29th, Guangzhou Auto Honda and Dongfeng Honda respectively decided to recall 396149 and 378625 vehicles, a total of 774774 vehicles, covering almost all Honda models sold in China.

The above recalled models are all caused by the problems of the fuel pump, and the hidden danger of engine flameout is caused by the low material density of the pump core impeller of the fuel pump assembly.
