A few days ago, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a recall notice, Nissan North America decided to recall 9813 2023 Ariya due to power outages on the way. According to foreign media reports, Nissan may conduct a recall in China.

According to the announcement, some materials on the drive motor of the recalled vehicle may short-circuit the slip ring of the motor. after the inverter detects overcurrent, it will cut off the power of the vehicle according to the fail-safe protocol and display "EV System Off" on the instrument. Nissan first noticed the situation during trial production in January 2022, and the diagnostic code indicated a short circuit inside the motor, but did not cause any damage. Nissan conducted further tests on the matter between February and April 2022 and found conductive fiber shavings in some motor slip rings. According to the information released by Nissan, these shavings are produced in the manufacturing process, which will lead to an instantaneous short circuit, and the inverter will enter fail-safe mode when it detects a short circuit, which will lead to a decrease in driving power. According to the announcement, the recalled Ariya models include front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions, and Nissan or Infiniti are not affected by the Ariya's unique motor.

In view of the above, Nissan North America announced a recall of 2023 ARIYA models and upgraded the inverter software system again.

According to foreign media reports, the recall may spread to the Chinese market. The Tramway report learned from the car circle that there had been feedback from many car owners that the ARIYA model produced by Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. had an EV system fault alarm problem, resulting in a decline in power, but Dongfeng Nissan did not respond, and it is not known whether Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. will conduct a recall.

It is understood that ARIYA is regarded as a landmark product of Nissan's electrified transformation and plays an important role in Nissan's electrification. The ARIYA is Dongfeng Nissan's first all-electric cross-border SUV and the first model with the new "NISSAN" LOGO. The new car is based on the CMF-EV platform and positioning pure electric compact SUV. It officially went on sale on September 27th, 2022, with a price range of 27.28-342800 yuan.

However, the car did not perform well in the domestic market. Retail data show that Dongfeng Nissan ARIYA sold a total of 1575 vehicles from January to August in 2023, with monthly sales of about 200 units. Such achievements obviously can not satisfy Dongfeng Nissan, but also let Nissan face tremendous pressure and crisis in the electrification transformation.
