On November 3, Dongfeng Nissan Qichen's first pure electric SUV-- Qichen VX6 was officially launched, with a total of three new models with a price range of 14.19-159900 yuan. The new car is based on a new pure electric platform, positioning compact pure electric SUV, after the launch, it will compete with AION Y, Song PLUS EV and other models.

In terms of appearance, the new car is based on Qichen's new STAR star aesthetic design concept, the front face uses a closed grille design, with a sharp broken line design, the overall sense of the future. The split lamp group is designed on both sides, and the internal LED light source is integrated. The through lamp belt retains the family "V"-shaped elements and has a high degree of recognition. In addition, a two-stage ventilation and heat dissipation port is designed in the middle position of the bottom of the new car.

On the side of the body, the new car adopts two-color body design, the overall shape is thick and plump, and the front and rear short suspension design also further improves the utilization rate of interior space. The new car is designed with hidden door handles and wheels with low wind resistance, and the lower edge of the window is decorated with through-type chrome trimmings, making the whole side look more sporty. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4658/1890/1656mm and the wheelbase is 2850mm. In the rear part, the new car is equipped with the popular through taillight design, which echoes with the front face, and the interior also continues the "V"-shaped design elements. The rear line design of the new car is very strong, and the top of the rear is also equipped with a small spoiler to further create a younger and more athletic atmosphere.

In terms of interior decoration, the new car is mainly designed with a floating island cockpit, equipped with a 14.6-inch suspended central control screen, and physical buttons are retained below. The central armrest box is an open design, equipped with mobile phone wireless charging board. In addition, the new car is also equipped with suspended door handles, 2.1 "panoramic canopy, 9 speakers, 64-color atmosphere lights and other configurations, the overall sense of science and technology. The space aspect is the main bright spot of the new car, the front seat of the new car can be folded forward and put down the rear seat synchronously, thus forming an open big bed room.

In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a motor with a maximum power of 160 kilowatts and a peak torque of 275 Nm. Equipped with batteries with a capacity of 62 kilowatt hours, the CLTC has a range of 520km.

In 2017, the Qichen brand announced its independence and established Dongfeng Qichen Automobile Co., Ltd. (that is, Dongfeng Qichen). Data show that from 2018 to 2020, Dongfeng Qichen sales declined for three consecutive years, from more than 140000 in 2017 to 78000 in 2020. In order to reverse the decline, at the end of 2020, Dongfeng Automobile carried out strategic adjustment. Dongfeng Co., Ltd. set up five major business departments. Dongfeng Qichen was brought under the management of Dongfeng Nissan, and changed from an independent brand to the second brand of Dongfeng Nissan passenger car Company.

According to the official website, so far, Qichen models for sale include Qichen Big V, D60/D60 EV, Qichen Star, T60 and so on. The Qichen brand sold 49552 vehicles in the first three quarters of 2023, with the highest sales of the Qichen V (19934 vehicles), followed by the Qichen D60 EV (13141 vehicles), and none of the other models exceeded 10,000 vehicles, according to the Federation of Carriage data.

With the increasingly fierce competition in the domestic automobile market, Dongfeng Nissan Qichen also began to make efforts in the field of new energy vehicles. In December 2022, Dongfeng Nissan Qichen announced a comprehensive transition to the new energy sector, no longer developing new pure fuel cars, and will launch no less than two new new energy models a year in the future, creating a system capacity of 300000 vehicles per year, with a medium-and long-term goal of selling 500000 vehicles a year.

Gao Guolin, vice president of Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. and deputy general manager of Dongfeng Nissan passenger car Company, had previously said: "Qichen comprehensively shoulders the important task of Dongfeng Nissan's new energy transformation, has the system capacity of selling 300000 vehicles a year, and gradually challenges the goal of annual sales of 500000 vehicles, and finally becomes the second growth curve of Dongfeng Nissan." As a new pure electric SUV based on pure electric platform, Qichen VX6 is an important product layout of Qichen in the new energy market. It should be noted that the competition in the pure electric compact SUV market is fierce, and it is not easy for Qichen VX6 to win. Whether the car can improve Qichen sales after listing remains to be verified.

Considering the positioning and price of the new car, the new car will compete with popular compact electric SUV such as GAC Eian AION Y (11.98-202600 yuan) and BYD Song PLUS EV (16.98-209800 yuan).
