On November 5, the Audi Q6 e-tron prototype was officially unveiled in the sixth China International Import Expo, and the whole car is close to mass production. It is understood that the Audi Q6 e-tron is not a simple Audi Q6 oil to electricity, but the Audi brand's first model based on the PPE platform, this model is of great significance to the Audi brand, symbolizing the Audi brand electrification transformation into the decisive stage. According to the plan, Audi will launch Q6 e-tron in 2024 and SQ6 eMurtron SQ6 e-tron will first be introduced into the domestic market in the form of imports, and then Q6 e-tron will carry out local production in Audi FAW's new PPE, and timely launch long wheelbase models and exclusive cockpits according to the needs of the Chinese market.

In terms of appearance, although it is a significant electric model in the history of the Audi brand, we can still see the classic design elements of the Audi family. Specifically, although the new car uses a closed grille design, it still retains the medium net design, and its outline shape is very in line with the brand family design. The headlights on both sides adopt a split design and are equipped with vents below them.

On the side of the body, the Audi Q6 e-tron prototype does not use the hidden door handle design of the current new energy vehicles, but still uses the conventional styling. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4805/1895/1635mm and the wheelbase is 2850mm. In the rear part of the car, the Audi Q6 e-tron is equipped with a through rear light group, and the lower rear enclosure also adds a decorative panel similar to an air spoiler, further enhancing the sports atmosphere.

Compared with the Audi models currently on sale in China, the Audi Q6 e-tron is more like a product of another era. Its interior design adopts a new layout, which is different from the Audi e-tron, Audi Q5 e-tron and other electric models. The new car is equipped with a multimedia interactive system (MMI) composed of an 11.9-inch panoramic display screen in the Audi virtual cockpit and a 14.5-inch touch screen, and the areas accessible to the driver are arc-shaped design. The center console area provides a curved twin screen and a co-driver screen, as well as an AR-HUD look-up display system, which can display speed, traffic signs, navigation and other related information, the overall scientific and technological atmosphere has improved a lot, but also more in line with the current interior design trend.

In other designs, the Audi Q6 e-tron front center control armrest area provides two cup holders, a mobile phone charging storage tank and two USB Type-C charging interfaces, and the storage space is still relatively available. The new car uses a lever shift mechanism, and retains a few shortcut keys, such as driving mode switching, ESP on and off, volume adjustment, reversing auxiliary images, etc., and the main driving side door lining position also retains a rich shortcut control key to facilitate driver operation.

In terms of power, the new car will have two models, 55 e-tron and SQ6 e-tron, with maximum power of 375hp and 483hp, respectively, and WLTP mileage of 600+km and 500+km. In terms of batteries, the new car will be equipped with 100 kWh batteries and an 800V platform that can achieve a maximum charging speed of 270 kilowatts. It takes about 30 minutes for the battery to charge from 10% to 80%.

For Audi, 2023 is a critical year for transformation. In March, Audi China's official Wechat released future-oriented production plans. Starting from 2026, Audi will only launch pure electric vehicles for the global market. By 2033, the production of internal combustion engine models will be phased out, when Audi's own production base around the world will be put into the production of electric vehicles.

At the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show, Wen Zeyue, president of Audi China, said, "from this year, Audi will launch the largest product offensive in global history, which is also the most important offensive for future transformation." According to the plan, Audi will launch 20 models worldwide in the next three years, 10 of which are pure electric vehicles.

Audi FAW is seen as the key to expanding Audi's lineup of electric vehicles in China and around the world.

In January 2021, China FAW Board, Audi Management Board and Volkswagen Group Supervisory Board officially signed a contract to announce that Audi FAW New Energy has officially settled in Changchun. Audi FAW New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd. was established in March 2021, marking the birth of Audi's third joint venture in China, in which Audi and Volkswagen own 60% of the company and FAW Group holds 40%, which means that Audi and Volkswagen enjoy the dominance of the company. In June 2022, Audi FAW's first PPE plant was opened in Changchun, which is Audi's first base in China to specialize in the production of pure electric models. The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2024 and will be put into production of three pure electric models, B+SUV e-tron, B+SAV e-tron and C Lim LWB e-tron, corresponding to Q6 e-tron (eQ5), Q6 e-tron Sportback (eQ6) two pure electric SUV and pure electric car A6L e-tron.

When the new energy vehicle market is in the direction of Skyworth, Audi has to change and transform. At present, Audi already has three joint ventures in China, including FAW-Volkswagen, SAIC Audi and Audi FAW. Audi has more dominance in Audi FAW, which will focus on the development of new energy vehicles. According to Audi's new energy strategy, Audi will invest 35 billion euros by 2025, its pure electric models will reach 20, and about 1/3 of the cars delivered worldwide will come from new energy vehicles; starting from 2026, Audi's new models launched worldwide will all be pure electric models; by 2033, Audi will phase out the last batch of internal combustion engine models and comprehensively accelerate the brand electrification transformation.

Oliver Blume said that Audi's new products, which will be launched next year, will bring huge opportunities for brands. In 2024, Audi will launch the Q6 e-tron, Audi's first electric car based on the Volkswagen PPE architecture, built on the same platform as the Porsche Macan EV. According to Oliver Blume, Audi's renaissance will focus on the faster development of electric vehicles. He stressed that the brand's sports models have great potential in this area.
