A few days ago, the last Chrysler 300C went off the line at a plant in Brampton, Canada, marking the official suspension of production of the Chrysler 300C series. It is understood that this offline model is a Chrysler 300C special edition, which is specially built to commemorate the suspension of production of the Chrysler 300C. The car is limited to 2000 in the United States market and 200 in the Canadian market. According to foreign media reports, the Chrysler 300C Special Edition sold out in just 12 hours, with prices starting at $55000.

Chrysler 300C Special Edition debuted at the 2022 North American Auto Show, a new car commemorating the nearly 70-year history of Chrysler 300 models (first launched in 1955).

In terms of appearance, the Chrysler 300C Special Edition uses the classic design elements of cash, with a rounded trapezoidal front grille and flat polygonal headlights on both sides. In order to reflect the identity of the special edition, the car is equipped with its own 300C logo on the front grille and seat backrest. In addition, Chrysler 300C Special Edition has been upgraded with Brembo brakes, limited slip differential, active suspension and active exhaust system.

The last 2200 Chrysler 300C Special Edition models are equipped with a 6.4L V8 HEMI engine with a maximum power of 492hp (362kW) and peak torque of 644Nm. In terms of transmission, it is matched by an 8-speed automatic transmission.

As the first international automobile company to invest in China, Chrysler established a joint venture with Beijing Automobile Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Beijing Gyibug") in 1984 to produce Jeep-branded cars in Beijing. After the merger of Daimler and Chrysler in 1998, Chrysler's business in China was gradually restructured. In 2005, Chrysler transferred its entire stake in Beijing Gyibug to companies such as Daimler and Daimler Northeast Asia Co., Ltd. After the above equity transfer, Daimler and Daimler Northeast Asia Co., Ltd. together with BAIC's additional capital investment in Beijing Gyibug, renamed the joint venture BBDC, that is, Beijing Mercedes-Daimler Chrysler.

After the completion of the equity transfer, Chrysler signed a technology license agreement with BBDC to permit BBDC to produce and sell Chrysler-branded products in China. Under this agreement, the domestic Chrysler 300C officially went on sale in November 2006, with prices of 2.7L luxury 339000 yuan, 3.5L luxury 385000 yuan and 5.7L luxury 499000 yuan respectively.

In may 2007, the DaimlerChrysler group announced that private equity fund Cerberus capital management would buy an 80.1% stake in Chrysler group for 5.5 billion euros. With the acquisition agreement between DaimlerChrysler and Cerberus, the 10-year marriage between Mercedes-Benz and American automaker Chrysler also came to an end, and the domestic Chrysler 300C ceased production in April 2007. Since then, the Chrysler 300C has been sold domestically as an imported car.

In June 2012, the brand-new Chrysler 300C went on sale in China at a price of 486900 yuan. In terms of power, the new generation 300C is equipped with the same 3.6L V6 engine as the Grand Cherokee and the Horse Shepherd, with a maximum power output of 292 horsepower and a peak torque of 340N / m, matched by an eight-gear automatic transmission. At the 2014 Beijing Auto Show, the Chrysler 300C launched a 3.0L model with a maximum power of 234hp (172kW), a peak torque of 285N ·m, and an eight-speed automatic gearbox with a price of 399900 yuan.

With the discontinuation of the Chrysler 300C, the presence of traditional American brands in the four-door sedan market has been further reduced. In addition to the Chrysler 300C, other American cars that have disappeared in the North American market in recent years include Lincoln Continental, Cadillac CT6, Ford Taurus / Mondeo, Chevrolet Impala and so on.

According to previous reports, the new Chrysler 300C will be launched in 2026, except that it will become an electric model. Earlier, the Stellantis Group released its ambitious Dare Forward 2030 strategy. Among them, Chrysler plans to launch three models based on the STLA platform by 2028, when a large electric car will replace the Chrysler 300C, can it still have the aura of Pantilaus? You must be looking forward to it.
