On the evening of December 14, the new Mercedes-Benz E-class long wheelbase version was officially put on the market. Among them, the price of E260L sedan and E260L sports sedan starts at 449000 yuan, and the price of E300L fashion / luxury sedan and E300L fashion / luxury sports sedan is 49.98-529800 yuan. As a reference, the official guidance price of Mercedes-Benz E-Class currently on sale is 44.01-504100 yuan.

In terms of appearance, the overall shape of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class long-axle version still has great changes compared with the old models, the front face uses a design language similar to the Mercedes-EQ family, but the chrome-plated middle net edge and star emblem grille are retained, and the lamp group design uses the retro style of "peanut lamp". This design detail is a tribute to the seventh generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W210).

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class still provides consumers with a choice of dual appearance, that is, the large standard version and the vertical standard version, which reflect the sense of movement and luxury respectively, with horizontal grille and star emblem matrix grille. The 3D ring grille of the new car echoes with the daytime driving lights, and a black highlight panel is added between the grille and the headlights, which complements the grille design elements of Mercedes-Benz pure electric models, reflecting the new E-Class car embracing the concept of electrification.

The side of the body, the slender side lines are the same as the previous generation model, the new car does not lengthen the door, but has a C-pillar triangular window similar to Maybach, reflecting the noble flavor of the extended version. In the rear part, the new Mercedes-Benz E-class taillights adopt a new design style, which integrates the three-pronged star emblem of the Mercedes-Benz brand into the taillights to improve the recognition of the new car.

In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new Mercedes-Benz E-class long axle version is 5092/1880/1493mm, and the wheelbase is 3094mm, which is 15mm higher than that of the previous generation model, and the overall size does not change much. As a comparative reference, the length, width and height of the current Mercedes-Benz E-class long-axle version are 5078/18601480mm, and the wheelbase is 3079mm.

In terms of interior decoration, the design style of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class long axis version is consistent with its EQ series, and the full LCD dashboard uses the same suspension design as the new S-Class, while being connected with the multimedia touch screen and the entertainment screen in front of the co-pilot, thus forming an oversized MBUX SuperScreen triple screen design, taking the lead in carrying the third generation MBUX intelligent human-computer interaction system. It is worth mentioning that it is also equipped with 8295 intelligent cockpit chip, while for domestic localization optimization, support iqiyi, Tencent Video, volcanic car entertainment, QQ Music and Himalayas and so on.

In terms of power, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class long axle version still provides fuel version models with 2.0T turbocharged engine, in which the maximum power of the E260 model is 150kW 190kW, and the transmission system still matches the 9-block self-integrated gearbox.

The history of Mercedes-Benz E-Class can be traced back to 1947, when Mercedes-Benz 170V, the predecessor of Mercedes-Benz E-Class, was officially born. In 1993, the W124 series was officially named the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and the new E-Class (code V214) can be regarded as the 11th generation of the Mercedes-Benz series.

On June 17, 2010, the domestic replacement E-class (codenamed V212) long wheelbase version was put on the market. With the domestic listing of the new E-class (codenamed V214), it means that Beijing Mercedes-Benz has introduced the fourth-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class into China.

As the most representative product of luxury medium and large cars, Mercedes-Benz E-Class has become the benchmark of luxury car market after 10 iterations in more than 70 years. It is not difficult to see that the new car has not jumped out of the impression of Chinese consumers on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, regardless of the appearance or interior design, the car still retains a strong Mercedes-Benz flavor, but in addition, it is not difficult to find that it has begun to integrate into the electric era, and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is undoubtedly the beginning of the transformation of traditional luxury car companies from fuel cars to electric cars.

As a medium and large luxury car, the biggest competitor of Mercedes-Benz E-Class still comes from German luxury BMW 5-Series and Audi A6L. Retail data show that Mercedes-Benz E-Class sold 136127 vehicles in the first 11 months of 2023, compared with 160401 for the Audi A6L and 123662 for the BMW 5-Series. In terms of sales, the Audi A6L is much higher than the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the BMW 5-Series because both models are about to be replaced, while the Audi A6L just went on sale in August 2022. Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5-Series sales are understandably lower than Audi A6L. It is understood that the eighth generation BMW 5-Series long wheelbase version (codenamed G68) will be put on the market early next year and will continue to be put into production at the brilliance BMW Shenyang Dadong factory, providing fuel version and mixed version in terms of power, and launching a pure electric version of BMW i5 (codenamed G60 BEV).
