On January 5, Chrysler (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the Administration of defective Automobile products recall and the measures for the implementation of defective Automobile products recall regulations. It is decided to recall some imported Dodge Covee 2.4L travel cars produced between May 19, 2016 and July 8, 2016, totaling 1143.

The reason for the recall is that some vehicles within the scope of this recall do not operate properly during the implementation of the above recall activities, which may lead to virtual connection of the crankshaft position sensor wire harness, intermittent operation of the crankshaft position sensor, and engine flameout in extreme cases. There are safety risks. In view of the above defects, Chrysler (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. will inspect the crankshaft position sensor wire harness for vehicles within the recall range free of charge, and reconnect in accordance with the standard maintenance practice if the wire harness is misconnected, in order to eliminate safety risks.

It should be noted that the recall was carried out in the context of the defect investigation initiated by the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration. At the same time, the recall is also another recall of the "Chrysler (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. recalled some of the imported 2016 Dodge Coolway series cars" issued on May 15, 2017.

Judging from the year of the recall, a total of 1143 imported Dodge Cool 2.4L travel cars were produced during 2016, which is relatively old, but the model has been out of production for many years.

Dodge belongs to Krausler's brand, and Dodge Coolway, a fully imported seven-seat SUV, entered the Chinese market in 2009, offering 2.4L in-line four-cylinder and 3.6L V6 engines, of which 2.4L engine has a maximum power of 170hp and peak torque 220Nm; 3.6L engine has a maximum power of 280hp and peak torque of 342Nm. The Dodge Coolway changed its model in 2013, but by 2016 the car was completely discontinued. The reason for the suspension of production is related to the low sales of the car in the market.

In terms of the year of the recall, it means that Dodge Coolway still has safety concerns after it was recalled seven years ago. According to Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the Federation of passengers, the number of recalls of passenger cars in 2023 was 162 batches, including 50 recalls from Germany, 36 from Japan and 27 independent brands. Among the many models, imported cars still account for half of the number of recalls, among which imported cars are recalled more in Germany, Europe and Japan.
