AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)06/07 Report--

On June 5, BMW officially released the official map of the fourth-generation BMW 1-Series / M135 (F70) model, which is the fourth-generation BMW 1-Series model (E87 in 2004, F20 in 2011 and F40 in 2019). This generation of products skip the mid-term and directly upgrade, which is very rare in BMW history. It is understood that the new car will be produced together with the new BMW X1 based on the UKL2 platform, will still provide front-drive and all-wheel drive models, and will be upgraded for appearance, interior and power.

In terms of appearance, the appearance of the new BMW 1-Series has been greatly innovated, and the classic double kidney grille has been retained, with the overall outline outlined by silver strips, but the internal structure is more complex, decorating with vertical + diagonal lines for the first time, the headlights on both sides are also completely decorated, and support the optional matrix LED light source. The lower enclosure adopts a through grille design to enhance heat dissipation and reduce the visual center of gravity at the same time, and its two sides are also equipped with ventilation design.

As the M version of the BMW 1-Series, the new BMW M135 adopts a more sporty design style than the standard version, and the grille in front of the double kidney shape is blackened, and the internal horizontal spoke and outline strips are all painted in bright black. The front grille is also equipped with the exclusive "M" logo of the BMW M series. The trapezoidal air intake that surrounds the center and the vents that surround both sides are also bright black designs, creating a strong sense of movement.

The side, rising waistline and smooth roof lines create a ready feel for the new car, which still retains the classic Hofmeister corner design in the C-pillar and embeds the number "1" inside. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4361/1800/1459mm, and the wheelbase is 2670mm, which is one circle larger than that of the old model. In the rear part, the new BMW 1-Series taillights also adopt a new design, with many broken-line elements inside, echoing the internal design style of the headlight group. The rear enclosure also provides two styles: the rear enclosure of the standard model is a bright black trim panel with ventilation slots on both sides, while the rear enclosure of the M sports suite version is integrated into the shape of a wide diffuser, and the rear fog lamp is assembled on both sides in the form of longitudinal layout. It is worth mentioning that the gasoline version of the tail mark will be a pure number "120", the letter "I" will disappear completely.

In terms of interior decoration, the new BMW 1-Series will adopt the latest family-style design. The 10.25in + 10.7in dual screen design indicates that the car will be equipped with iDrive 9 system and QuickSelect functions, while a large number of physical key designs will be eliminated, most of the functions will be integrated into the screen touch operation, and the gear handle will be replaced with a more refined and compact look. In addition, the new car will also be equipped with L2 driving assistance and automatic parking functions, as well as support a number of optional upgrades, including dial pole change, Harman Catton audio, head up display and front row wireless charging. The new BMW 1-Series multi-function steering wheel also adopts a new style, and the buttons and rollers in the multi-function area are also newly designed, making the button shape more flat. In addition, atmosphere lights are added under the center control screen and on the decoration panels at both ends of the center console.

In terms of power, the new BMW 1-Series will provide gasoline and diesel engines, in which the gasoline version 120 will be equipped with a 1.5T three-cylinder engine + 48V motor light hybrid system with a maximum power of 170 horsepower. the transmission system matches a seven-speed double clutch gearbox and uses front wheel drive. The new M135 carries a 2.0T engine with a maximum power of 300hp and matches a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox and all-wheel drive system. 0-100km/h acceleration takes only 4.9s.

The early BMW 1-Series is mainly sold in China by import, and the price range of the main hatchback version is 25.60-469000 yuan, but there is no sense of existence in China because of the relatively high price. In 2016, brilliance BMW introduced the BMW 1-Series into domestic production, featuring a hatchback version (F52), which is more in line with the needs of the Chinese market. It is based on the UKL front wheel drive platform and has more advantages in space and cost. In 2019, BMW released the third-generation BMW 1-Series (F40) hatchback model and went on sale in overseas markets, but the domestic 1-Series hatchback sedan was not updated synchronously, but continued to be sold in the form of minor modifications. BMW will begin to produce the second-generation 2-series Gran Coupe four-door coupe (code F74) in November 2024, and at the same time, a new 2-series four-door sedan running long wheelbase version (codenamed F78) may be launched in China in 2025 to replace the BMW 1-series hatchback.

The BMW 1-Series is an entry-level car sold by BMW, which mainly competes with luxury brands such as FAW-Volkswagen Audi A3, Mercedes-Benz CLA, Volvo V40 and Lexus CT in the car market. In 2022, for example, the BMW 1-Series sold 25351 vehicles, compared with 65680 for the Audi A3 and 26827 for the Mercedes-Benz CLA, which may be the main reason for the discontinuation of the car. It is understood that the new BMW 1-Series will be first listed in the German market in October, and then mainly sold to other parts of Europe and the Japanese market, but as BMW China has suspended sales and confirmed that the BMW 2-Series will take its place, it is expected that the new BMW 1-Series will not be produced and sold in China, but will not be introduced through import channels.
