AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/14 Report--
During 315 this year, FAW-Volkswagen Audi odor problem broke out again, leukemia patients "Doudou is crying" on the Internet, "they all have leukemia, they all bought Audi cars" article aroused strong concern from all walks of life. A number of patients and Audi owners set up rights groups to point the cause to Audi cars.
With the fermentation of public opinion, Audi gave a unified response, saying that the concentration of volatile substances in vehicles are within the scope of national standards.
With regard to the phenomenon reflected by FAW-Volkswagen Audi owners that the owners of FAW-Volkswagen Audi cars have been sick and unwell for a long time, the online news unit "China quality News Network" in charge of the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration decided to launch a news investigation and made progress.
The network said it has received complaints from a number of Audi owners about "the smell of air in Audi cars" and interviewed several consumers who questioned the excessive air quality inside the car. FAW-Volkswagen-Audi official document responded: no problem at all.
FAW-Volkswagen Audi said that the inspection results submitted by third-party authorities showed that the concentrations of formaldehyde, benzene and other volatile substances in the Audi models produced by FAW-Volkswagen were within the range of national standards.
Audi also said, "relying on the highest level of domestic compartments and cabins, the most advanced hardware analysis equipment such as liquid chromatograph and GC-MS, and the subjective evaluation system of the 'Golden nose team' of the same standard as Audi in Germany, FAW-Volkswagen carried out formaldehyde test, condensation test and total carbon test on the odor and emission performance of all parts, parts and vehicles as a whole. And a number of experiments, including the eight toxic and harmful substances stipulated in the national standards, so as to ensure that the air quality in the car meets the national standards and the air quality control requirements of the German Volkswagen. "
FAW-Volkswagen claims that with the same standard as German Audi, the smell and emission performance of domestic cars meet the quality requirements of the country and German Volkswagen and are not treated differently. But in fact, this statement is not entirely credible, because FAW-Volkswagen issued a statement in the Chinese market in March 2017 to solve the problem of internal odor caused by soundproof materials in domestic cars. The problem involves a number of Audi and Volkswagen models of FAW-Volkswagen, which may have the above odor problem from the first production in January 2013 to the Volkswagen and Audi cars produced in April 2016. The official solution is to replace the newly improved sound insulation material, which means that there is a problem with the original sound insulation material.
What is more noteworthy is that as early as the exposure of CCTV 315 in 2013, FAW-Volkswagen used non-environmentally friendly toxic materials in Audi cars; in July 2017, Shenzhen consumers' Association tested the air quality in Audi Q5 vehicles and detected harmful substances such as formaldehyde, and FAW-Volkswagen also apologized to consumers; in January 2018, the media sued FAW-Volkswagen for "using carcinogens as sound insulation materials".
Although FAW-Volkswagen Volkswagen, Audi cars have odor problems, but so far there is still no relevant evidence directly related to the car owner's illness, which is also the main reason why the sick car owner failed to obtain court support.
According to an article reprinted by People's Daily, the China Consumer Association confirmed that the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration had received reports from complainants such as Doudou and had been involved in the investigation into the odor and carcinogenicity of Audi cars.
Looking back on the incident, Doudou bought an Audi A4 made in March 2013 at the Zhongsheng Audi 4S store in Yantai, Shandong Province. He found that the car smelled so bad that he had to spend three hours in the car commuting to and from work every day. In the second half of 2017, Doudou was diagnosed with acute leukemia.
The Doudou family commissioned different third-party testing agencies to test the air inside the Audi A4 twice on May 25, 2018 and April 5, 2019, and found that benzene and formaldehyde exceeded the standard. The test report provided by Doudou shows that formaldehyde per cubic meter exceeds the standard by nearly double, while benzene exceeds the standard by more than twice per cubic meter.
According to data provided by Doudou, there are 85 people who claim to be suffering from cancer caused by the odor in Audi cars, as well as more than 3000 complaints about odor in Audi cars.
In addition, China quality News reported that it received a number of complaints from Audi sick users, plus information about Audi sick users who could be retrieved but could not be implemented one by one. Among the total number of complaints about Audi cars suffering from major diseases due to bad smell, 40% of the owners were ill (leukemia, cancer) in 1 ~ 3 years.
From this FAW-Volkswagen official response to the "odor Leukemia door" in the form of a document, it means that the incident will still make progress. It is hoped that FAW-Volkswagen will uphold a responsible attitude towards consumers and disclose more third-party test data and results, so as to give the public a more comprehensive reference.
