As a reference, the official price range of Volkswagen ID.4 CROZZ is 19.39-293900 yuan, which is on a par with that of some Chinese brands, such as BYD's Song PLUS EV.

Through the inquiry of "Automotive Industry concern", we have learned that the activity with a high price of 145900 yuan in ID.4 CROZZ does exist, but there are some restrictions on this price, such as replacement of used cars, 6,000-point coupon deduction, exclusive benefits for Teachers' Day, and so on.

It is understood that ID.4 CROZZ is the first ID introduced by FAW-Volkswagen. Series of models, based on the Volkswagen MEB platform, positioning compact pure electric SUV, officially launched in January 2021 and announced the price of the new car, a total of five models, the subsidized price range is 19.99-279900 yuan.

ID.4 has two versions of FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC-Volkswagen in China, and the corresponding models are ID.4 CROZZ and ID.4 X respectively, in which the ID.4 CROZZ style continues the overseas version of ID.4, the LED light belt is connected to the headlight groups on both sides, and there is a luminous car logo design before and after lighting, which is fully recognized. This is not the first time Volkswagen has played a "price war". SAIC-Volkswagen officials announced a price cut on July 6, offering a discount on its ID.3 models to 125900 yuan, which directly boosted SAIC-Volkswagen's performance in the electric car market, with ID.3 sales of 10296 vehicles (wholesale sales) in July, compared with 9559 in the past six months. SAIC-Volkswagen said that ID.3 sales continued to exceed 10,000 deliveries in August, while hot sales of ID.3 also led to terminal sales of ID.4 X and ID.6 X.


The industry believes that Volkswagen ID.3 sales rose sharply after the price reduction, and it is reasonable for FAW-Volkswagen to adopt a similar approach. Retail sales figures show that 17642 ID.4 CROZZ vehicles were sold from January to July 2023.

In the Chinese market, Volkswagen should be the most determined development of electric vehicles, and it is also an international car company with good development in the field of joint venture electric vehicles, but it is still unable to compete with Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers. According to the FIFA data, the top three companies in sales of new energy vehicles from January to May 2023 are BYD, Tesla and GAC EAN, respectively. In addition, SAIC GM Wuling, Geely Motor, ideal Automobile and Changan Automobile also sold more than 100000 new energy vehicles. In TOP10, there is no joint venture car company.


At present, Volkswagen has three pure electric models, ID.3, ID.4 and ID.6, in the Chinese market. Tesla Model X dual-motor all-wheel drive version costs 738900 yuan, down 98000 yuan from the previous 836900 yuan, while three-motor all-wheel drive version Plaid sells for 838900 yuan, down 151000 yuan from the previous 989900 yuan.


In addition to Tesla, car companies including Zero run Automobile, Xiaopeng Automobile, GAC Ean, BYD and other car companies have launched "price reduction and promotion" policies, including official reductions, time-limited promotions, time-limited subsidies, new models with lower configurations, and so on. the models involved are mainly new energy vehicles.

On the whole, the price war in the automobile industry is difficult to extinguish in a short time, which is the result of the competition between new energy vehicles and fuel vehicles, between new forces and traditional car companies, and between independent brands and joint venture brands.
