Ford Bronco is positioned as a hard off-road model, and it is expected that the domestic Ford Bronco will be produced by Jiangling Ford and will be available in the first half of next year at the earliest.

Ford Bronco was previously unveiled at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show. From the latest declaration chart, Jiangling Ford is the first domestic version of the four-door hardtop version, which is not much different from the overseas version in appearance design, and continues to use the classic element design of the overseas version.

From the latest declaration chart, the domestic Ford Bronco has an authentic American rough feeling, the overall appearance of the new car is hard and retro, using square outline design, the retro round headlights extend to the through-type front grille, the word "Bronco" is directly embedded in the intake grille, and the logo of FORD is added, the degree of recognition is very high. There are trailer hooks commonly used off-road in the surrounding area, with large-size all-terrain AT tires, protruding wheel eyebrows and exposed rear-hanging spare tires to further enhance the hard cross-country flavor of the whole vehicle.

In the rear part, the new car uses a full-size external spare tire, a long strip taillight group design on both sides, a prominent bumper at the bottom, a side opening of the rear door, and the rear is marked with the words "Liema" and "Jiangling Ford". The declaration information shows that the rear traction device can be selected for the new car.

On the side of the body, the shape of the new car looks equally square, with smooth and strong lines and a black door handle. Unlike the traditional SUV, the new car offers a detachable roof and side doors, a standard cloth soft roof for easy opening, off-road tires and a front and rear bumper, and 17-inch bright black rims embedded with rivets to make the new car look more rugged. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4800 (4825) / 2070/1990mm, and the wheelbase is 2950mm.

In terms of interior decoration, with reference to the previously public interior decoration, it is expected that the new car will continue the overseas model design style, with a classic "T" layout, equipped with a semi-LCD instrument and a 12-inch central control screen, and the air conditioning control area of the brand new Bronco below the central control screen. In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a 2.3T turbocharged engine provided by Changan Ford, with a maximum power of 202 kilowatts, and the transmission system is expected to match 10-gear automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive system.

Looking back on the development of Ford Bronco, it has a long history. Ford launched the first generation Bronco as early as 1966, only four years later than Ford Mustang. Both names mean "Mustang". The difference is that the Ford Bronco focuses on the hard SUV market, while the Ford Mustang focuses on the sports car market, and the former mostly refers to the Mustang in the western United States, which is tough and difficult to tame, so the Ford Bronco is called a "fierce horse" by domestic fans. Unfortunately, Ford Bronco did not develop as smoothly as Ford Mustang. It stopped production only four years after the launch of the fourth generation model in the 1990s, and Ford Bronco gradually retired from the stage of history.

Until July 2020, 25 years later, the new Ford Bronco made a comeback with three versions: the classic two-door Bronco, the four-door Bronco and the compact 4 × 4 SUV Bronco Sport, with 2.3T, 2.7t and 1.5T, 2.0T turbocharged engines. At present, the Ford Bronco on sale in China is the sixth generation model, which introduces sales by parallel import, and the price range is 500000-800000.

Ford distributes Jiangling Ford and Changan Ford joint ventures in China, but Changan Ford has a higher sense of existence than Jiangling Ford. Taking the sales data for the first eight months of this year as an example, Jiangling Ford sold a cumulative total of 24270 vehicles this year, of which the model with the highest sales volume was LinkedIn, with 16132, followed by Lingyu, with 4302, and the rest with less than 1500. It should be noted that at present, Changan Ford has a difficult time in China. With the listing of domestic Ford Bronco, Jiangling Ford may be able to surpass Changan Ford in brand reputation.

It is worth mentioning that the domestic competition for hard-line off-road vehicles is also very fierce. Data show that the sales of domestic off-road vehicles in 2020 is about 170000, and the penetration in the passenger car market is not high, but the domestic production of hard off-road vehicles has risen to 231700 in 2022, an increase of 17% compared with the same period last year. In other words, this market segment has changed. Before 2021, most of the domestic hard off-road vehicles include FAW Toyota's Prado, imported Prado, Nissan Tuller, imported Toyota Land Patrol, Mitsubishi Pajero, Lexus LX570 and other Japanese cars. However, as the competition in the car market has entered a white-hot stage, in recent years, more and more independent brands have begun to layout "hard off-road" market segments, including Great Wall tank brands, Dongfeng warriors and BYD equation Leopard, etc., and none of these models will have an impact on the market position of domestic Ford Bronco.

From the perspective of the positioning of the new car, the domestic Ford Bronco will compete with hard off-road models such as Jeep Horse Shepherd, brand new Toyota Prado, equation Leopard 5 and so on.
