The appearance and interior of the new car are in the latest design language, and the power version is available in fuel, diesel, light and mixed versions.

Judging from the official picture of the new car, the appearance of the new car adopts Volkswagen's latest family design language, and has two design styles. Among them, the front face of the fuel version is similar to the new Passat design style, with large horizontal air intake grille, iconic air intake on both sides, and headlight group similar to ID. In terms of size, the new length and height are 4509/1659mm, the width has not yet been announced, and the wheelbase is 2680mm. As a reference, the length, width and height of the current Tiguan are 4490/1859/1657mm and the wheelbase is 2681mm.

There are also obvious changes in the interior of the new car. The new car is equipped with a 15-inch suspension central control screen and a 10.25-inch LCD meter, integrated with the latest multimedia system, with touch-controlled physical buttons at the bottom, and new decorations on the center console and door trim panels. In addition, the new car also removed the mechanical stopper and replaced it with ID. In terms of power, the new car will provide a choice of fuel version, diesel version, light hybrid version and plug-in hybrid version. According to industry insiders, this is likely to be the last generation of fuel Tiguan, which may become an all-electric model in the future, just like the GTI. Specifically, the fuel version provides 2.0T gasoline engine and 2.0T diesel engine. The maximum power of 2.0T gasoline engine is 150 kilowatts and 195 kilowatts respectively, while the maximum power of 2.0T diesel engines is 110 kilowatts and 142 kilowatts. The light hybrid model is equipped with 1.5T four-cylinder engine and 48 volt light mixing system. The plug-in mixed version also offers two versions of high and low power, with a comprehensive power of 150 kilowatts for the low-power version and 200 kilowatts for the high-power version. In terms of transmission system, the new car offers two layouts of front drive and four-wheel drive, but the specific gearbox information has not yet been released.

Volkswagen Tiguan was first born in 2007, based on the same PQ35 platform of golf. After its launch, it quickly became popular in many countries in Europe and the United States. In 2009, the car entered the Chinese market as an import, with a price of up to 385000 yuan that year. In March 2010, SAIC-Volkswagen officially homemade Tiguan, and named Tuguan, the price range is 19.98-309800 yuan. Compared with overseas Tiguan models, the biggest change of domestic Tuguan is to lengthen the wheelbase, the wheelbase is 2684mm, compared with overseas models increased 80mm. The larger wheelbase and cheaper price make the car one of the most popular joint venture models on the market.

In 2017, the new generation of Tuguan launched, based on the MQB platform, the wheelbase was further extended, upgrading from a compact SUV to a medium-sized SUV, and renamed Tuguan L, this generation of models have been sold for six years. Retail data show that Tuguan L sold a total of 90960 vehicles from January to August 2023.

According to the plan, Volkswagen's new generation of Tiguan may announce the price in the fourth quarter of this year. As a reference, Volkswagen Tiguan was previously sold in China as an import, with 2019 Tiguan priced in the range of 239800-350800 yuan; SAIC-Volkswagen Tuguan L corresponds to Tiguan Allspace, and the current price range is 19.90-260800 yuan. It is understood that the new Volkswagen Tiguan is planned to be first launched in the European market in 2024, and will be introduced and sold by SAIC Volkswagen in the same year, competing with Toyota RAV4, Nissan Qijun and Honda CR-V.

According to media reports, Volkswagen officially revealed that the Tiguan Allspace model to be launched in North America next year will be based on the Tanyue model in the Chinese market, which means that the new generation of FAW-Volkswagen model will also adopt the same design elements as the replacement Tiguan model, which will be launched as soon as next year.
