According to data from the Federation of passengers, retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles in China in September 2023 were 746000, up 22.1 percent from the same period last year and 4.2 percent from the previous year. Retail sales from January to September in 2023 totaled 5.188 million vehicles, up 33.8 percent from the same period last year.

Judging from the sales list of new energy manufacturers in September, the top 10 car companies in the list are BYD Automobile, GAC Ean, Geely Automobile, Tesla China, Changan Automobile, SAIC GM Wuling, ideal Automobile, Great Wall Automobile, Zero running Automobile and Xilai Automobile. In the list, only Tesla China and SAIC GM Wuling showed a year-on-year decline, of which Tesla China was the brand with the highest decline, while other car companies showed a year-on-year rise.

According to the data, Tesla's sales in China in September 2023 were 43507, down 43.9% from the same period last year and 32.7% from the previous month, and the ranking also fell to fourth place from second in August. As for the reason for the decline in sales, Tesla officials had previously said that the main reason was that the factory had been upgraded and put into production of the new version of Model 3, so it had been suspended for a period of time. By 2022, the domestic new energy vehicle market will grow by 90% year on year, while A00 class electric vehicle sales will grow by only 21.5% year-on-year.

A total of 109993 vehicles were delivered during the year, up 33.43 percent from the same period last year.

In addition to the above-mentioned car companies, zero-running cars, a new force in second-line carmaking, also ranked ninth on the list with 15800 deliveries in September, an increase of 43.1 percent over the same period last year. A total of 151084 cars were delivered during the year, an increase of 61.7 percent over the same period last year, but failed to make the top 10 of the annual list.

Nezha fell out of the top 10 in September after official figures showed that it delivered 13211 vehicles in September, up 9.15% from a month earlier, but still down 26.63% from a year earlier. Cumulative delivery fell 18.6% year-on-year to 89327 vehicles, ranking at the bottom of the annual cumulative sales list.
