On the first day of the new year, BYD announced its latest production and marketing in December, KuaiBao. Data show that BYD sold 341043 new energy vehicles in December 2023, up 45 per cent from a year earlier. From January to December, BYD sold 3024417 new energy vehicles, an increase of 62.3 per cent compared with 1863494 last year.

Specifically, BYD sold 149000 plug-in hybrids in December, with a cumulative sales of 1.438 million this year, an increase of 51.98% over the same period last year, while pure electric vehicles sold 191000 in December and 1.5748 million this year, an increase of 72.84% over last year.

In the subdivision of brands, most of BYD's sales come from dynasty and ocean.com, which account for the majority of BYD's new energy vehicle sales. Total sales of the two series in December were 321570, up 40.7 per cent from a year earlier. Among them, Daozhao.com sold 153607 vehicles in December, while the Qin, Han, Tang, Song and Yuan families sold 46394, 20902, 11316, 33314 and 41681 respectively in December.

Oceannet sold a total of 167963 vehicles in December, with seagulls and dolphins accounting for half of all sales, at 50525 and 36514, respectively. The next best seller is the Seal, which sold 20093 vehicles in December. In addition, oceannet sold 2020 frigates 07, 6150 destroyers 05 and 1936 e2 vehicles in December.

As the first BYD brand to set up the high-end market, it sold 11929 vehicles in December. At present, Tengli brand has D9, N8 and N7 models on sale, most of which come from Tengli D9, which sold 10492 vehicles in December. With regard to the follow-up product development plan of the Tengli brand, officials have said that they will launch a number of models within three years, and will name five major car series after the English name DENZA, of which D is the MPV model series and N is the SUV model series. The products of these five major car families will cover MPV, SUV, cars and urban sports cars. According to the data, a total of 127840 Tengli cars were sold in 2023.

Let's take a look at the sales performance of the look-up and equation Leopard brand in December, when the brand sold 1593 U8 models. Looking up to the brand is that BYD launched a new high-end new energy brand in November 2022, which is wholly owned by BYD Automotive Industry Co., Ltd., targeting millions of markets. The first model, the U8, was launched in September last year and is positioned as a high-end hardline off-road SUV with a price of 1.098 million yuan. At this price, the market performance of U8 in December is also very good.

At present, BYD has a total layout of dynasty, ocean, momentum, look up and equation leopard brands, of which equation leopard brand's first model leopard 5 launched in November last year, a total of three models, the price range of 28.98-352800 yuan. The Leopard 5 sold 5086 vehicles in December, compared with 5712 last year.

From the sales data of several major brands of BYD, all of them have achieved growth. Of course, the surge has something to do with BYD's recent big price cuts and the launch of new models. Since November last year, BYD has launched a "millions of Ocean gratitude courtesy" promotion, which can enjoy a discount of 0.5 to 18000 yuan for the purchase of destroyer 07, frigate 05 champion version, dolphin, seal champion version, Song PLUS champion version and other models owned by BYD Ocean Network in that month. In addition, the 2023 champion version of Qin PLUS EV was launched in the same month and can enjoy a cash discount of 10, 000 yuan. On December 1st, BYD again launched Thanksgiving 6 million, a time-limited discount for oil-to-electricity, and several models of Dynasty and overseas net can enjoy cash discount. For example, Qin PLUS DM-i champion version can enjoy 10,000 yuan fuel transfer fund, starting price from 89800 yuan, seal champion version can enjoy 2000 yuan to 9000 yuan car purchase, and so on.

Or thanks to the stimulation of time-limited discount activities, BYD's sales are on the rise. At the same time, officials are speeding up the layout of new models. On December 15 last year, BYD Song L launched four new models with a price range of 189800 yuan to 249800 yuan. Against the backdrop of price cuts and the layout of new models, BYD's 3 million-year goal has been perfectly achieved.
