According to public data, Hu Xindong graduated with a bachelor's degree in political education from Hubei University in 1990. He received a master's degree in business administration from Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands in 2000 and a master's degree in economics from Central South University of Economics and Law in 2001. Looking back on his work experience, Hu Xindong can also be regarded as a "veteran" figure of Dongfeng Company, working for Dongfeng Company for more than 20 years.

Hu Xindong joined Dongfeng Motor Company in 1990 and served as the office director of Dongfeng Motor Company from July 2003 to September 2005. Before 2003, Hu Xindong worked in the suspension spring company of Dongfeng parts Group, and later participated in the reorganization of Dongfeng axle business to establish the largest commercial vehicle axle company in Asia. In 2003, Hu Xindong was transferred to the headquarters of Dongfeng Group, and successively served as Minister of legal Affairs, Minister of Securities Affairs and Minister of Capital Operations of Dongfeng Group. In 2013, Hu Xindong was assigned by the group to be in charge of the Dongfeng Renault project. During his tenure, he completed the reorganization and government examination and approval of the Sanjiang Renault project, and the construction and commissioning of Dongfeng Renault. It can be said that he participated in almost all the negotiations on the joint venture contract between Dongfeng and Renault. In November 2016, Hu Xindong left his post as executive vice president of Dongfeng Renault.

Dongfeng Renault, founded in December 2013, is a joint venture brand between Dongfeng Motor and French Renault Motor. In April 2020, Dongfeng Automobile Group announced that in view of the decline in the domestic automobile market and the operating conditions of Dongfeng Renault, Dongfeng Renault planned to reorganize, Renault planned to transfer 50% of its shares to Dongfeng Automobile Group, and Dongfeng Renault stopped the business activities related to the Renault brand. In July 2020, Dongfeng Renault Automobile Co., Ltd. changed its name to Dongfeng Automobile (Wuhan) Co., Ltd., and Renault Group withdrew from the ranks of shareholders and became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dongfeng Automobile Group, which also represents that Dongfeng Renault has officially become history. Its four domestic models, namely, Clayga, Coreau, Renault and Corey, have all been discontinued.

On 19 March, according to the discipline Inspection Commission of Dongfeng Company and the Supervisory Commission of Hubei Provincial discipline Inspection Commission, Lu Weidong, honorary chairman of Dongfeng Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., was suspected of serious violations of discipline and the law, and is currently under disciplinary examination and supervision investigation by the discipline Inspection Commission of Dongfeng Company and the Supervisory Commission of Hefeng County, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province.

According to incomplete statistics, since 2024, Dongfeng Motor Group discipline Inspection Commission official account "Clean Dongfeng" has reported five violations of Dongfeng Company. On February 2, Kang Lihua, former party committee member and executive general manager of Dongfeng Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd.; Liu Qiheng, former member of discipline Inspection Commission, former Minister of Finance and Accounting Department of Dongfeng Special Commercial vehicle Co., Ltd., and Wang Jiawei, former Party Committee Secretary, discipline Inspection Commission Secretary and Trade Union Chairman of Dongfeng Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. Yang Jun, former chief of the after-sales career Development Section of the after-sales Service Department of Dongfeng Nissan Automobile sales Co., Ltd., four people suspected of job-related crimes were transferred to the judicial organ for review and prosecution. On February 20, Li Puming, director of Dongfeng Xiangyang Daan Automobile testing Center Co., Ltd., suspected of serious violations of discipline and law, has voluntarily surrendered to the case, and is currently under disciplinary examination and supervision investigation by the discipline Inspection Commission of Dongfeng Company and the Supervisory Commission of Yichang City, Hubei Province.

Due to the long chain and large scale of the industry, the automobile industry is relatively prone to corruption. It should be noted that the operating status of automobile enterprises is highly related to corruption, once corruption is breed, there are likely to be substandard parts and other problems, and then affect the brand reputation and corporate image.
