Beijing Auto's light off-road SUV--BJ30 model made its debut on March 21. Compared with the models on sale, the new BJ30 has more hard-line body lines and contours and is expected to compete with models such as Haverdog and shortcut travelers. As a reference, the guiding price range of 2021 Beijing BJ30 on sale is 105800-125800 yuan.

As a replacement, the new BJ30 is positioned as a "light off-road SUV", which is similar to the positioning of the tank 300. The new car adopts a new design style and adopts the popular "square box" shape, which continues the consistent style of off-road in Beijing, and looks tough and fashionable as a whole. The front face is designed with a large number of straight lines and fillets, and the polygonal headlights on both sides are integrated with a narrow front grille and covered with a transparent lamp case, creating a sense of strength and adding a bit of fashion sense at the same time. The cross-country gene can also be highlighted by the use of a stronger front guard under the front of the car.

On the side of the car body, we can see that the new BJ30 not only inherits the off-road family elements, but also takes into account the attributes of the city. In the rear part, the new car uses the latest vertical taillight group, the straight lines and vertical taillights enhance the recognition of the whole car, while with the new bright black + silver decoration, it echoes well with the front bumper. In terms of size, the length, width and height are 4730, 1910 and 1757 (1790) mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2820mm.

Combined with the previously exposed interior spy photos, the new BJ30 provides suspended central control screen and embedded full liquid crystal meter, air conditioning outlet for the upper and lower adjustable through-type layout, multi-function steering wheel for three-spoke flat-bottomed structure, the front of the handbox provides push rod type electronic guard handle and metal knob keys, the door panel is decorated with additional rivets and handles, adding hard attributes again.

In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with a 1.5T engine produced by Beijing Automotive Powertrain Co., Ltd., with a maximum power of 138kW, and the transmission system is expected to match the 6AT gearbox as the current model.

In addition, the new Beijing BJ40 Blade Hero version is officially released, which is equipped with 2.0T gasoline engine and 2.0T diesel engine and is priced at 10,000 yuan.

Beijing Automobile Group Cross-country Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Beijing off-road") is a BAIC off-road vehicle brand. Currently, five models are on sale, including BJ30 (10.58-125800 yuan), BJ40 (13.98-272900 yuan), BJ60 (23.98-285800 yuan), BJ80 (29.49-398000 yuan) and BJ90 (47.80-498000 yuan). BJ30 and BJ40 are both entry-level cars of Beijing off-road brands. BJ60 is the first medium-and large-scale SUV under BAIC off-road, with non-load-bearing body design, power with 2.0T engine matching 48V light mixing system, BJ80 modeling is more hardline, cross-country capability is also second to none, while BJ90 is currently one of the few domestic full-size SUV, based on the old Mercedes-Benz GL class "change the shell" and come. According to the Federation of passengers, the highest-selling model in 2023 was the BJ40, with 20644 vehicles and the BJ60 with 8645 vehicles.

In the past, the hardline cross-country seemed out of reach, and "off-road" has always been a minority demand. Since the launch of the Tank 300, the threshold for off-road vehicles has been lowered, and more and more manufacturers have joined the camp of off-road vehicles, including Chery Jetta and BYD in the future. In terms of competitive products, the new BJ30 will directly compete for popular models such as Harvard Dog (11.99-167900 yuan) and shortcut travelers (13.99-219900 yuan). As an entry model of BAIC's off-road model, square box design, market positioning and power promotion, it is expected that the car will bring certain market increment to Beijing Automobile after its launch.
