AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/23 Report--

On March 21, BMW's new generation X concept car (expected to be a new generation of BMW iX3) was officially launched, which showcases the new design style of future BMW cars, and the mass production version is expected to go into production at the Debrecen plant in Hungary in the second half of 2025. According to the plan, the BMW new generation model will be launched in the global market in 2025 and at least six models will be put into production within the next 24 months, and the first BMW new generation model will be made at BMW's Shenyang plant in 2026.

According to the official map, the BMW new generation X concept car retains the design style of the new generation Vision concept car, the long light group shape is expected to become the new symbol of BMW pure electric models, and the classic "double kidney" grille shape is also retained and embellished with lights to increase visual impact, which is more recognizable with LED light source. It is worth mentioning that the car also has the function of welcoming lights to enhance the sense of ceremony.

From the side of the body, the overall outline of BMW's new generation X concept car is straight, the design of the front and rear wheel arch and the folding angle under the door panel shows a three-dimensional sense, and the shape of long wheelbase and short front suspension ensures the interior space to a certain extent. Huo's corner design is retained in the way of "reflective printing", and the details can also be seen that the car uses electronic rearview mirrors and hidden door handles. In the rear part, the taillight shape of the BMW new generation X concept car echoes with the headlights, and the internal structure is BMW's classic L-shaped design. The lamp group can also separately control different light intensity to create a depth of field effect. In addition, the new car, including the taillight, spoiler and rear bumper, has a similar "concave" design, which is matched with the coral silver paint used in the new car to make it look lighter.

In terms of interior decoration, the design of BMW's new generation X concept car is full of science and technology, with a new four-spoke shape of the multi-function steering wheel and a suspended central control screen designed by polygons. In addition, the car will also be equipped with BMW's latest panoramic vision bridge + 3D head-up display system, coupled with an intelligent voice control system that can present an emotional human-car interaction experience. In addition, it can be seen that the new generation X concept car of BMW adopts rimless door design, and the seat headrest has a good sense of wrapping.

In terms of power, BMW officially did not announce the specific parameters of the new generation X concept car, saying only that the car will be equipped with BMW's sixth-generation eDrive electric drive technology, in addition to the improved electric drive system, the car will also be equipped with cylindrical batteries and 800V high-voltage electrical system, which can replenish 300km in 10 minutes.

Although BMW has no shortage of pure electric products and achieves the same price as gas and electricity, BMW electric cars still cannot replace the position of fuel cars in the hearts of consumers. The arrival of the new generation of models can be seen as the third stage of BMW's electrification, and will become the backbone of BMW's electrified full-speed advance.

According to the product plan, BMW Group will launch a number of new cars in the global market in 2024, of which the new BMW 5-Series / i5 station wagon family will be officially launched in overseas markets in May this year; the new BMW M5 sedan and station wagon version will be launched in 2024 with plug-in hybrid power; and the new BMW X3 will be released later this year, offering pure fuel version and plug-in hybrid version. As for the MINI brand, in addition to the upcoming MINI Aceman at the Beijing Auto Show, the MINI convertible version will be launched in the second half of 2024. The new generation of BMW models will be launched in the global market in 2025 and at least six models will be put into production in the following 24 months, and the first new generation model will be made at BMW's Shenyang plant in 2026. BMW expects pure electric models to account for more than 50 per cent of its annual global deliveries by 2030 and is expected to deliver more than 10 million pure electric vehicles in the global market.

On March 15, BMW Group released its 2023 results. During the reporting period, BMW Group had revenue of 155.498 billion euros (1.21 trillion yuan), an increase of 9 percent over the same period last year; group profit before interest and tax climbed to 18.482 billion euros (144.71 billion yuan), an increase of 32 percent over the same period last year. Of this total, profit before interest and tax in the automotive division was 12.981 billion euros (101.65 billion yuan), up 22% from the same period last year.

The group's revenue and profit growth is related to BMW's rising delivery volume in the global market. In 2023, BMW delivered a total of 2.554 million new cars worldwide, an increase of 6.4 per cent year-on-year. Of this total, 824932 BMW and MINI vehicles were sold in the Chinese market, an increase of 4.2 per cent over the same period last year. BMW has six pure electric models on sale in China, of which the BMW i3 and the iX3 are the two highest-selling pure electric products. Data show that a total of 99972 BMW pure electric vehicles were delivered in China in 2023, ranking firmly in the first echelon of overseas brands in China New Energy vehicle sales, which obviously provides confidence for BMW's new electric vehicle sales growth. At the beginning of this year, the BMW i5 was officially listed in China, with a price range of 43.99-639900 yuan. The arrival of the BMW i5 has further entered the era of smart electric, with at least 3, 5 and 7 series pure electric models. as well as the pursuit of driving interest in both oil and electricity, we have also seen the follow-up of BMW in the corresponding supporting services such as super charging stations.

Chipze, chairman of BMW Group, said: "in 2023, BMW Group will unswervingly implement the set strategic goals, achieve strong growth, significantly increase the share of pure electric vehicle sales, and improve operating profitability. Although everyone is talking about 'transformation', for us, it is more of a process of continuous progress. No matter which form of drive, BMW Group is actively providing customers with the latest innovative technology, the goal is to continue to use competitive products to meet the strong user demand. "
