AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/13 Report--

Recently, Fisker, a new force in car building, has been complained by users because there are no obvious obstacles in front of the automatic emergency braking system.

At present, the United States NHTSA (United States Highway Safety Administration) is conducting an investigation into this matter. It is understood that the vehicles investigated involve 6813 Fisker Ocean, all of which were produced last year. Us NHTSA officials say there have been eight complaints about the Fisker Ocean automatic emergency braking system starting without obvious road obstacles in front of the vehicle, causing a sudden deceleration of the vehicle, three of which resulted in injuries.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that Fisker Ocean models have been investigated by NHTSA in the United States. In April, NHTSA said it had received 14 complaints from owners that the doors of the Fisker Oceans could not be opened from the inside and outside. These complaints reflect not only the problems with the door lock and handle system of the vehicle, but also the possibility of failure of the emergency overcontrol device of the vehicle. Follow-up officials said they also investigated problems with Ocean SUV's braking system and complaints that vehicles would roll on uneven roads.

In fact, the recent trouble with Fisker is not just that vehicles are frequently investigated by NHTSA in the United States. The operation is even more in crisis. In 2024, news about Fisker layoffs, production suspension and delisting emerge one after another. In February, Fisker announced plans to cut 15 per cent of its workforce. At the time, Fisker said that if Fisker did not have new sources of funding, the company might not have enough money to support growth over the next 12 months. In March, Fisker announced that it would suspend production of electric cars for six weeks. Of course, this series of operations of Fisker is undoubtedly due to its financial shortage.

Fisker is still losing money, with gross profit of minus $102.9 million on revenue of $272.9 million last year and a net loss of $761.9 million in 2023, according to the data. As of December 31, 2023, Fisker cash and equivalents were $325.5 million.

Fisker has revealed that it is negotiating a capital injection with a large car factory. However, in March, Fisker issued an announcement that the other party decided to terminate the negotiations for this capital injection. Affected by the news, Fisk's share price plummeted, hitting an all-time low of $0.086. Trading was suspended immediately by the New York Stock Exchange announcement, and the Fisker stock delisting process will be launched. By the end of the day, Fisker was down 28.21% at $0.0896 a share.

In April, there was news in the market that Fisker said in a regulatory filing that it might now face bankruptcy. If Fisker fails to get relief from creditors or raise additional cash, the company is expected to have to file for bankruptcy within the next 30 days, according to filings. For its part, Fisker said it was seeking strategic options to raise funds to meet its debt obligations.

The return to the fact that Fisker was investigated by NHTSA in the United States undoubtedly makes the situation of Fisker more difficult. Fisker was once seen as Tesla's main competitor in the US market. But judging from the strength of the two sides now, it is already very different. Fisker currently has only one Ocean model on sale, with prices ranging from $37499 to $68999 (274000-504000 yuan).

The auto industry is concerned that, in view of Fisker's current situation, the chance of relying solely on a model to turn around is very slim. In the end, we have to get the investment first, and only with the injection of capital will it be possible to maintain the normal operation.
