As the largest manufacturer of new energy vehicles in China, BYD once again handed over a bright sales record. On June 2, BYD announced the production and marketing of KuaiBao in May. Data show that in May 2024, BYD sold 331817 new energy vehicles, an increase of 38.13 percent over the same period last year, and a slight increase of 5.93 percent from the previous month to 1271325 vehicles from January to May, an increase of 26.80 percent over the same period last year.

At present, BYD has an absolute leading position in the new energy vehicle market, and has laid out the BYD brand, momentum, equation Leopard and look up to the four major brands, but its main sales source still depends on the dynasty net and ocean net in the BYD brand. Data show that Chao Chao and Ocean net sold 315227 vehicles in May, accounting for the vast majority of total sales. Among them, the ocean net sells models including dolphins, seagulls, seals, destroyers 05, frigates 07 and so on, while dynasty net includes Han, Tang, Song, Yuan and Qin.

Sales of the two major products in May were 172051 and 143108, respectively. Among them, the highest-selling model in Dynasty net is the Qin family, which is 57072, while that in Yuan, Song, Han and Tang dynasties is 40231, 37267, 22003 and 15478 respectively. The highest-selling model in Ocean net is Song PLUS, which is 44907, followed by Seagull and destroyer 05, which is 35370 and 32883 respectively. In addition, the sales of seals and dolphins are also over 10,000, with 14,311 and 10624 respectively.

In addition to dynasty net and ocean network, BYD in the high-end market layout of momentum, equation leopard, look up, some brands already have a certain market situation. In May, Teng Teng sold 12223 vehicles, of which the Teng Teng D9 accounted for the vast majority of total sales, while Teng Teng N7 and Teng Teng N8 sold 2031 and 34 respectively. Generally speaking, as BYD's earliest high-end market layout of the momentum brand, Tengli sales mainly come from Teng Teng D9.

On June 1, at the 2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Auto Show, the Teng Teng Z9 GT was officially unveiled. The new car has been declared by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The new car will be powered by a hybrid system formed by 2.0T+3 motor, and the new car is expected to go on sale in the middle of the year. The Tencent Z9 GT is positioned as a "flagship sedan" with a price of one million, comparable to the Porsche Palamera, but it remains to be seen whether the car will become the sales pillar of the brand like the Tencent D9.

Let's take a look at the sales performance of equation Leopard and look up to the brand in May. The equation Leopard brand sold 2430 vehicles in May, all from Leopard 5 models. Equation Leopard brand is a new brand under BYD, which announced its brand name in June 2023, positioning between momentum and looking up, focusing on luxury, personality and volume tasks. Leopard 5 went on sale in November last year and launched three models with a price range of 28.98 yuan to 352800 yuan.

Looking forward to the brand's May sales of 608 vehicles, all from U8 models. Looking up to the brand is a new high-end new energy brand launched by BYD in November 2022. The first model, U8, was launched in September last year, positioning as a high-end hardline off-road SUV with a price of 1.098 million yuan. As a car in the millionaire market, it is not easy to look up to the brand to boost sales.

From the data point of view, whether it is looking at the brand or equation leopard brand, its market performance is still very limited, it is difficult to increase in a short period of time. In other words, for BYD, which makes a family car, it is much harder for the brand to go up than down. Of course, for BYD, looking up to the brand and equation Leopard brand may be just to improve the image and value of the brand.

On May 10, BYD Haishi 07 EV officially launched four new models with a price range of 18.98-239800 yuan. The new car positioning medium-sized pure electric SUV, based on the BYD e platform 3.0Evo, will have L2 + high-level intelligent assisted driving, and it will also be the first model in the BYD Ocean net series to be equipped with the "Eye of God" high-level smart car.

At a technical conference held by BYD in Xi'an on May 28, BYD unveiled the fifth-generation DM technology. Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD, said that the thermal efficiency of the fifth-generation DM engine reached 46.06 percent, the fuel consumption of 100 kilometers was 2.9L, and the comprehensive mileage reached 2100KM. On the day of the press conference, BYD also launched two new cars with fifth-generation DM hybrid technology-Qin L DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i. The two new cars were delivered immediately and adopted the strategy of two cars at the same price. They all launched five models with a price range of 99800 yuan to 139800 yuan, which shocked the entire car circle. Industry insiders believe that as the price of BYD's new car goes further down to the 100000 yuan level, it will continue to squeeze the market space for joint venture fuel cars.

According to the plan, BYD has set a target of 45-5 million vehicles in 2024, 15-2 million more than the target of 3 million in 2023. However, the car market in 2024 is different from that in 2023, and competition in the new energy market will become more fierce this year. It remains to be seen whether the launch of more new cars will bring sales growth to BYD.
