On December 27, Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Measures for the Implementation of the Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automobile Products. Since December 29,2023, some imported GLE SUV hybrid vehicles with production dates from September 17,2019 to September 28,2023 have been recalled, totaling 13433 vehicles.

The reason for the recall is that the auxiliary braking function of the vehicles within the scope of this recall is delayed due to the deviation in the software development process of the vehicle stable driving system (ESP) control unit. When the vehicle is driving in pure electric mode in humid weather and other specific environments, the driver may need to apply more force to brake, and the braking distance becomes longer, resulting in potential safety hazards. In response to the above defects, Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. will upgrade the ESP control unit software for vehicles within the scope of recall free of charge through Mercedes-Benz authorized dealers to eliminate potential safety hazards.

Mercedes-Benz GLE is a medium-and large-sized SUV owned by Mercedes-Benz. It is introduced into the Chinese market in the form of import. It mainly competes with BMW X5 and Audi Q7 in the same class in the automobile market. In July this year, a new generation of Mercedes-Benz GLE launched, a total of six models, the price range of 699,800 - 889,800 yuan. As a medium-term modified model, the new car has not undergone drastic changes, but is optimized for details such as appearance and configuration, but the overall look is younger and more dynamic. It is powered by 2.0T and 2.5T engines. Among them, GLE 450 model is equipped with 2.5T engine +48V motor combination, with maximum power of 367 hp, maximum torque of 500 N·m and acceleration time of 5.9 seconds for 0-100km/h; The plug-in hybrid model GLE 400e is equipped with 2.0T engine, comprehensive power 245kW, comprehensive torque 700N·m, battery capacity 31.2kWh, pure electric range up to 88km (NEDC condition), 0- 100km/h acceleration time of 7.4 seconds.

On the same day, GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd., FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., FAW Toyota Motor (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. Changchun Fengyue Branch (Authorized by FAW Toyota Motor (Chengdu) Co., Ltd.) According to the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Measures for the Implementation of the Regulations on the Administration of Recall of Defective Automobile Products, the recall plan was filed with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, and the following vehicles were recalled from January 12,2024.

I. GAC Toyota Automobile Co., Ltd. recalls 2490 Weilanda vehicles produced from March 31,2021 to September 20,2023; 16 Highlander vehicles produced from September 16,2021 to June 16,2023.

II. Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. recalled 237 imported Lexus LM, LS, LC, RX, NX, ES and UX vehicles and some imported Toyota ALPHARD and VELLFIRE vehicles manufactured from June 7,2017 to November 16,2022.

III. FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. recalls some Crown Liufang vehicles produced between September 14,2021 and June 22,2022, totaling 5 vehicles.

IV. Changchun Fengyue Branch of FAW Toyota Motor (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. recalled some RAV4 Rongfang vehicles produced from November 26,2019 to March 11,2022, and some Lingfang vehicles produced on November 5,2021, totaling 3 vehicles.

The reason for the recall of the above-mentioned models is that the vehicles within the scope of this recall do not have electric shock warning labels affixed to the rear drive motor or transmission axle of the hybrid power system, which increases the risk of accidental electric shock for maintenance personnel and poses potential safety hazards. In view of the above defects, GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd., FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. and Changchun Fengyue Branch of FAW Toyota Motor (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. will paste electric shock warning labels free of charge for rear drive motors or transmission axles of vehicles within the scope of recall to eliminate potential safety hazards.

In addition, Subaru Automobile (China) Co., Ltd. also filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Measures for the Implementation of the Regulations on the Administration of Recall of Defective Automobile Products. Since December 28,2023, the recall of some imported Aohu and Forester series vehicles manufactured between September 4,2023 and September 11,2023 has been expanded, totaling 45 vehicles.

The reason for recall is that due to improper heat treatment of vehicles within the scope of this recall, cracks may occur on the surface of the outer race of the front drive shaft universal joint and the strength of the material decreases, resulting in damage to the outer race of the universal joint, poor power transmission and reduction of driving force during use, increasing the risk of collision of vehicles and potential safety hazards. In view of the above defects, Subaru Automobile (China) Co., Ltd. will inspect the front drive shafts on both sides of the recalled vehicles free of charge, and replace the front drive shafts for defective batch parts to eliminate potential safety hazards.

It should be noted that this recall activity is an expanded recall of the recall activity of "Subaru Automobile (China) Co., Ltd. recalls some imported CROSSTREK, Aohu and Forester series cars" issued on November 24,2023. On November 24, Subaru Automobile (China) Co., Ltd. recalled some imported CROSSTREK, Aohu and Forester series vehicles manufactured between September 6,2023 and September 8,2023, totaling 24 vehicles. II. Since January 11,2024,2472 imported Aohu series vehicles manufactured between February 10,2021 and June 30,2021 will be recalled.
