AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)01/15 Report--

As a Passat, which has entered the domestic market for 21 years, it has a brilliant position in China, and now it has been pushed to the forefront just because a crash testing institution called China Baoyan gave it the lowest score. However, affected by this, Passat, which has a best-selling reputation in China, has been reduced to even two car dealers who have said bluntly that they will never accept it again.

In October last year, SAIC-Volkswagen Passat was "hot" after a picture of a nearly 90-degree bend in the A-pillar was tested by the China Insurance Research Institute. Until the end of December, the official website of the C-ISAI China Insurance Automobile Safety Index officially released the latest crash test results of SAIC-Volkswagen Passat, which disappointed many consumers, especially in the frontal 25% offset collision and side collision projects, almost at the bottom of the same level, further escalating public opinion.

But in the following two months, Passat sales did not weaken, but continued to increase, with a cumulative sales of 21408 vehicles in November, up 43% from a year earlier, and 27414 in December, up 81.2% from a year earlier. Won the first place in the ranking of medium-sized cars for many months in a row.

In the face of such a result, depending on the test and the influence of public opinion on Passat, there is no change in the current situation of the media to interview Passat through multiple channels.

Through understanding, it is found that since the collision test of "China Baoyan", Passat has become unpopular in the used car market. Some second-hand car dealers have revealed that they have seen Passat's collision results, so they feel that Passat's quality is too poor and will definitely be worthless in the future, so they decided to promote all Passat models and sell them as soon as possible. At the same time, it also mentioned that "all Passat models will not be accepted in the future, including 2018, 2019 or 2020." Earlier, a dealer who specializes in the used car business of Shanghai Volkswagen also said he would not accept it again.

Obviously, the incident of Passat's "crash test" is brewing, and it is not difficult to understand that used car dealers say that it is no longer valuable. Since the result of the collision, Volkswagen dealers have begun to support sales by means of "price for volume". The discount of 30,000 is only a daily phenomenon, and price cuts of more than 50,000 yuan have occurred in most areas. Compared with such a big discount for new cars, it is obviously difficult to sell what second-hand car dealers recover at high prices. Coupled with safety factors, the number of people who were willing to choose Passat will only be further reduced.

In response to the numerous public opinions aroused by the collision results of the China Insurance Research Institute, SAIC and Volkswagen did not give a positive response, but chose to voluntarily apply for "hit again", but this time the test chose C-NCAP, because the collision test adopted by C-NCAP is completely different from that of the China Insurance Research Institute, and the evaluation criteria cannot be the same. However, most of the models in China Insurance Research or poor reviews can be excellent in C-NCAP, resulting in C-NCAP being rated as the "five-star wholesale department" by netizens.

Some people in the industry believe that in order to get better results in C-NCAP, many car companies will reinforce their vehicles according to the test requirements of C-NCAP. In fact, it is equivalent to a kind of "test-oriented education", so it is not surprising to get high marks.

Again and again "cold" model of the Zhongbao Research has also put itself in the focus, and was questioned by many netizens about its fairness. However, according to the data, PICC Research is an organization led by the China Insurance Industry Association in March 2015 and jointly funded by the top eight property insurance companies in the industry and Jingyou Century Co., Ltd., that is, PICC Research earns money from insurance companies.

In this regard, industry insiders said that for consumers, vehicle insurance may only increase part of the insurance costs, but for insurance companies once out of danger will be a large amount of compensation. So in his view, insurance companies want to improve vehicle safety rather than raising premiums.

Now, in all respects, Passat's collision result is not as hot as sales, and even after car owners bought it in some website forums, they were hit by China Insurance Research to return the car but could not carry out. With the reduction of second-hand prices of Passat, the preservation rate as one of the factors of consumer choice will not be eliminated, as for the "test-oriented education" of C-NCAP, Passat's credibility will only be further reduced.
