AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/22 Report--

There is news on the Internet today that FAW Mazda will be delisted! According to the media sources, it has been learned from Mazda insiders that FAW Mazda will withdraw from the market after the life cycle of cash models, including follow-up models such as Atez (Mazda 6) may be introduced into Changan Mazda production in the future.

It is understood that FAW and Mazda are limited to technical cooperation and car sales, and the joint venture companies of the two sides do not have the qualification for vehicle production. FAW car was first put into production in Changchun FAW car factory by means of technical cooperation in 2003. In order to cooperate with the sales of Mazda 6, FAW and Mazda established a joint venture with Mazda Automobile sales Co., Ltd in 2005, which is a sales company without qualification for vehicle production. In recent years, Mazda and FAW have negotiated to set up a comprehensive joint venture to break the situation of FAW car contract manufacturing, but this negotiation has not been successful.

There is no official response to the online news that FAW Mazda will be delisted.

FAW Mazda officially stopped production of four models of Mazda CX-7, Mazda 6, Mazda 8 and Mazda Rui Wing in 2016, and only these two models have been produced and sold after leaving only CX-4 and Atez. FAW Mazda sold 108436 units in 2018, down 12.3 per cent from a year earlier; from January to April this year, FAW Mazda sold 26061 units, down 37 per cent from a year earlier.

A small number of models, difficult to sustain, may be an important reason for FAW Mazda delisting. The mid-term modified model of Atez launched this year will still be put into production in FAW cars, while it is reported that after the life cycle of the current model, the follow-up Mazda model may be introduced into Changan Mazda production, and FAW Mazda will withdraw from the market in the future.

It is also a great surprise to spread this result on the Internet. Not long ago, Mazda China Chairman Yukihiko Watanabe also said: "FAW Mazda and Changan Mazda will not merge, and Mazda has no such consideration at present."

Subsequently, Xu Zhanwei, director of FAW Mazda Public Relations and Communication Office, responded to a number of media: "fake!" We are about to officially refute the rumor that this self-media took it out of context, and there is no such thing at all. "

China is Mazda's second largest market in the world, but in 2018, Mazda's sales in China fell 12% from a year earlier to 69385 units from January to April this year, down 32% from a year earlier. Sales fell for 12 months in a row.

As new car sales continue to decline in China, should niche brands like Mazda consider further integrating resources? We will keep an eye on the official response to the development of the follow-up events.
