China's self-owned brand SUV market share is shrinking, and by April this year, self-owned brand SUV gradually lost its leading position.

According to the domestic passenger car sales data released by the Passenger Association in April, the cumulative sales volume of SUV models was 642,000 vehicles, down 14.7% year-on-year, and the cumulative sales volume from January to April was 2.853 million vehicles, down 12.5% year-on-year. SUV market sales are even overtaken by the car market, some experts analyze, but also because of the continuous development of new energy vehicles, seized SUV market share.

But are SUV sales bad? No, in the SUV market at 200,000 to 290,000 prices, sales of Japanese and German SUVs have soared. Among them, the cumulative sales volume of German SUV was 41,000, up 27.7% year-on-year; the cumulative sales volume of Japanese SUV was 56,000, up 18.7% year-on-year.

In fact, SUV sales have been declining since May last year. Since 2009, the popularity of SUV has been heating up, soaring from more than 700,000 vehicles in that year to more than 10 million vehicles in 2017, and its market share has continued to rise from 8.43% in 2009. However, this momentum has stopped since May this year.

However, some people think that whether the Chinese brand SUV is only temporarily defeated, that is wrong. Sun Yong, expert of China Automobile Circulation Association and vice president of Beijing Automobile Circulation Association, pointed out: "In the past five years, relying on the first-mover advantage of SUV and new energy vehicles, Chinese brands have seized the opportunity to develop rapidly, and some brands have begun to make breakthroughs." Now, multinational auto companies have made up for these two shortcomings, and the next step is to make it harder for Chinese brands to break through!"

With the unstable growth rate of economic environment and the gradual reduction of state subsidies for new energy vehicles, the future automobile market will also be greatly affected. With the slowdown of economic growth, low-income groups will continue to increase, and China's self-owned brand car buying group is also a low-income group, so it will also affect the purchase of self-owned brands.
