AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)04/07 Report--

On April 6, PICC Research C-IASI released the results of the latest batch of automobile safety index evaluation, which involved a total of seven models, namely Buick Enron S, Toyota C-HR, Citroen Tianyi C5 ARICROSS, Wei Brand Tank 300, Nissan New Qijun, Buick GL8 ES Lu Zun, Tesla Model Y, including 6 SUV and 1 MPV.

It should be noted that this batch of collision models uses the "China Insurance Automobile Safety Index regulations (version 2020)". It is understood that a number of new test items have been added to the latest version 2020, including bumper frontal collision, bumper rear-end collision, automatic emergency braking-car to pedestrians and cyclists, lane deviation assistance, etc., among which the biggest focus is the addition of 25% offset collision on the front side of the occupant side, which is tied as an option. However, from the release of the test model, no car company participated in the passenger side front 25% offset collision.

Tank 300, Nissan's new Qijun and Tesla Model Y are all closely watched models in the market, so what is the safety performance of these models?

Tank 300 is one of the best-selling models in the current fuel vehicle market. This time, the 2021 urban version 2.0T is evaluated. Except for A (good) durability and maintenance economy, the other are G (excellent). This performance is relatively in line with expectations for a hard-line SUV.

In the frontal 25% offset collision, the tank 300 scored G (excellent). In the process of collision, the tank 300 had an operation similar to Volvo's "loss of wheel protection". Through the design of the buffer zone between the longitudinal beam and the firewall, the longitudinal collision force was distributed horizontally to avoid too much impact on the carriage. therefore, the whole of the tank 300 after the collision is relatively intact. At the same time, the A-pillar structure of tank 300 was intact in the collision, there was no obvious bending deformation, and there was no obvious deformation of the roof and threshold. From the perspective of the interior of the vehicle, the front airbag and side air curtain of tank 300 are effectively spread out to effectively protect the head and torso of the dummy.

Since the launch of the new generation of Qijun on the market of Dongfeng Nissan, sales have remained depressed due to its three-cylinder engine, making it another model that has broken the market for three-cylinder engines. However, as a completely new generation of Qijun, although it has been complained by the market for carrying a three-cylinder engine, its product power is still comparable to that of the previous generation of models. According to the evaluation results of C-IASI, the new Qijun is rated as M (general) in durability and maintenance economy, and G (excellent) in others. In the front 25% offset collision, the new Qijun's A-column structure is intact, the threshold and roof are not obviously deformed, the front airbag, side air curtain, side airbag all play a normal role. In the side impact, the B-pillar is still 22cm away from the center line of the driver's seat, and the structural strength is good. Generally speaking, the performance of the new Qijun in terms of safety is impeccable, but it is a pity that 1.5T three cylinders are really difficult to be accepted by the market.

Model Y is the only electric vehicle tested, which has achieved G (excellent) results in the safety index of interior members, pedestrian safety index and vehicle auxiliary safety index, and has the highest G (excellent) rating in front 25% offset collision, side collision, roof strength, seat / headrest test, and impeccable performance in terms of safety performance. However, in terms of maintenance economy, the performance of Model Y is not ideal, the crashworthiness of the car body structure is general, there are 6.5 defects, the maintainability is poor, there are 16.5 defects, and the maintenance economy is poor, with 41.67 defects. The front anti-collision beam is rated as "M" in general, and the rear anti-collision beam is rated as "A". In other words, Model Y's safety performance is good, but in the event of a crash, the car may not be able to afford to be repaired. Earlier, it was rumored that a Model Y accidentally hit a corner while backing up, causing serious damage and deformation in the rear half of the vehicle. In fact, the damage was not serious, but the maintenance cost reached 200000, and the collision directly hit 70% of the price of the car.

Among the tested models in this batch, the Buick GL8 performed the worst. The results show that Buick GL8 ES Lu Zun got P, A, An and G scores respectively in four aspects: crashworthiness and maintenance economy, occupant safety, pedestrian safety and vehicle auxiliary safety. In other words, the Buick GL8 got only one G, which is relatively mediocre compared to other models.

Previously, the Buick GL8 performed very badly in the 2018 test. In the front 25% offset collision test, the A-column of the Buick GL8 bent nearly 90 degrees, and its safety was controversial in the market. In the latest batch evaluation, the performance of the Buick GL8 has achieved A (good) performance, and the A-pillar is still deformed, but the safety of the Buick GL8 has been improved to some extent compared with the past. In the side impact test, the door of Buick GL8, especially the back door, was also seriously deformed, so it only got an A score.

In other models, the Citroen Tianyi C5 AIRCROSS got only An in the occupant safety index. In the 25% bias collision, the A column of Tianyi appeared a certain deformation and bending, which led to the deformation of the vehicle center console, the steering wheel was tilted, and the front airbag did not fully catch the dummy's head. At the same time, the front side air curtain area of the vehicle is not large enough to completely cover the area near the A column in the front. The dummy dived to the left and front due to inertia in the process of collision, and the side air curtain also did not play a stable role.

As a global medium-sized SUV, the Buick Unkway S has no problem in terms of basic structural safety. Both the occupant safety inside the car and the pedestrian safety index outside the car are G (excellent), but the durability and maintenance economy are P (poor), and the auxiliary safety only gets M (general).

Toyota C-HR in the medium-term changes, safety has also been a certain improvement, in addition to low-speed crash maintenance economy did not get G (excellent), the other performance is quite good. In fact, Toyota Yize, a sister model of C-HR, participated in the China Insurance Research Test as early as 2018, and won the all-G score at that time. Now the C-HR, which has completed the mid-term revamping, also got the full G, which is not a surprising achievement. It only shows that Toyota did not cut corners in the mid-term revamping process, and still maintained the safety standards of the early models on the market.

C-IASI is one of the third-party vehicle evaluation institutions in China, but due to many disputes in the evaluation results of Haoying models, its rigor has been questioned. In the past year, C-IASI kept a low profile and announced five models to be tested in early 2021, including Tank 300, Mazda CX-30, Ford Ruiji, Toyota C-HR, Citroen Tianyi C5 AIRCROSS. Until October 30, 2021, the test results of the first batch of models were announced, including Ford Rui Ji, Mazda CX-30, Volkswagen ID.4X, Changan UNI-K and Guangqi Acura RDX. Other models have not been announced until recently. From the point of view of the 2020 version of the regulations, the last performance is Volkswagen ID.4 X, which is the performance of all G.
